Nicola Sturgeon

Nicola was born on July 19th 1970 at 3.16 pm in Irvine.

Her party may have narrowly missed out on achieving Scottish Independence but this rising star of politics is now making her presence felt throughout the nation she fought so hard to separate from. Ironically, defeat in the Scottish Referendum may now become the springboard to very great things for this working class girl from Irvine. Had Scotland won its freedom, Ms Sturgeon would have remained a relatively big fish in a relatively small pond, if you excuse the pun. Big-stage politics is now her oyster and who knows the impact she might make on the constitution of this country in the future.

The architect of change

Sometimes certain individuals come along whose personal destiny is entwined with the destiny of the society into which they were born. Movers and shakers who become the architects of change at a time when a collective need for change emerges.
Perhaps Nicola is such a person.

Might  Scotland’s loss become the UK’s gain?

Granite-like conviction

With her Rising Sign in wilful, powerful Scorpio, this lady is not for turning! Sounds familiar? Well that’s because Nicola shares her Rising Sign with Margaret Thatcher which will give you some idea about the SNP leader’s granite-like conviction to the causes she espouses! Whether you agree with her views or not, there’s no denying she’s forcefully attached to them. With this somewhat controlling Sign rising, having the higher ground matters to Nicola. It’s crucial in fact because in common with all Scorpio Rising people, she’ll tend to suspect that danger or dastardly deeds may lurk around every corner. Such suspicion produces clever defensive tactics – subtle manipulations and chess-like manoeuvres all designed to ensure she remains in control and ahead of the game. Basically then, Nicola will not be messed with. And if she is, there will usually only be one winner!

Her Sun Sign is Cancer which gives her a real sensitivity to and empathy for people’s problems and difficulties. She’s a carer at heart and is strongly motivated by the need to help and protect others especially the vulnerable who can’t help themselves. Cancer is the Sign associated with motherhood but Nicola has no children of her own. Instead she’ll see the vulnerable in society as her ‘children’ and therefore needy of her nurture and protection.

Highly principled

This is further emphasised by her Moon in Aquarius. The Moon represents our emotional nature and the Sign it’s in at birth reveals not only how we respond to things but also what we need to make us feel connected, comfortable and at home with ourselves. The stuff that feeds the soul in other words. Aquarius is an extremely intelligent Sign and a very civilised one so having the Moon here means Nicola instinctively reacts to life in an objective, rational and intellectual way. Her head in other words, rules her heart. Despite the deep-feeling, sympathetic side, her emotions will always be tempered by reason and cool, clear thinking.
Aquarius also has to do with change. Not change for its own sake but where it’s needed to bring a breath of fresh air to stale and outdated ways of doing things. The kind of change that heralds in progressive ideas and modern methods. In many ways, Moon in Aquarius people can feel a bit ‘different’ from everyone else and therefore find it hard to ‘fit in’ with the so called norm. That’s no surprise because at heart, they aren’t conformers. They’re too individualistic for that, too forward-thinking and far too disrespectful of rules and regulations that stifle improvement. So like all Moon in Aquarius people, Nicola is a bit of a rebel whose soul is fed when there’s a cause to fight. And the cause closest to her heart is social equality and upholding basic human rights. People matter to her. All people. Regardless of colour, race or creed. She cares especially about the plight of disadvantaged, downtrodden people and is deeply offended by social injustice. Integrity is inextricably linked to her emotional nature giving her a deeply ingrained sense of right and wrong. Aquarius is all about morals, principles and downright decency. Honesty too. When she says she’s an honest politician, she means it.

Honourable woman

In essence then, Nicola is a very tough cookie but a genuinely caring one too. Driven by passionate feelings and strongly held beliefs, she’s utterly committed to her humanitarian ideals. Politician or not, this is an honourable, ethical woman devoted to bettering the lives of her fellow human beings.
