Donald Trump and Melania

As the world waits to see what the irrepressible, inflammatory 45th American President might want to unleash next, we turn the spotlight on Donald Trump plus wife Melania to see what their astrological birth charts reveal about them.

Looking at Trump’s Astrological make up and at the man himself, it would seem he expresses most of the negative traits associated with the three Astrological Signs that dominate his birth chart!

Unrestrained Temperament

His Rising Sign is Leo, a whole-hearted, passionate and stubborn Fire Sign, giving him a flamboyant, upbeat and unrestrained temperament. Underpinning his whole personality is the need to stand out from the crowd, to lead and to shine. Especially to shine.  He is the sun personified- bursting with power and energy, full of fire and heat. But his showy personality needs recognition and applause like lungs need oxygen. All the world truly is a stage to this man because he only feels vital  when there’s someone to perform to. Life to Trump is like an epic production. It may have a cast of thousands but he’ll always strive hard to be producer, director – and of course the star! As for the bravado and audacity? It’s no act.  He’s supremely sure of himself and his pride will always, always come before a fall.

Boundless Optimism

The energetic, impulsive and provocative Planet Mars sits very close to his Rising Sign degree which means as well as being born to shine, he was born ready for a challenge, champing at the bit and raring to go. Alone. Happily self-reliant and immune to criticism, he’s a genuine self-starter – a pioneer – and in no need of support. Full of initiative, drive and very little patience, he wants things done the day before yesterday and he wants them done his way – or no way. Act first and think later will always be his mantra. And if stuff doesn’t work out? Hell, so what? Tomorrow will always be bursting with new opportunities and new solutions. His optimism is boundless and reality will seldom contain it.

In many respects, his Chart shows him to be a Puer Aeternus – an Eternal Boy – which is a personality archetype recognised by psychologists to exist in some people. He may be 70 years old but his instincts have remained at an adolescent level. The Puer craves independence and freedom, opposes boundaries and limits, and usually finds any restriction intolerable.

Fidgety Energy

The Peter Pan theme within Trump’s nature is further emphasised with his Sun in playful, child-like and mercurial Gemini. Gemini is an Air Sign so it’s about the mind, especially curiosity and a keenness to learn. Easily bored, there’s a fidgety energy about this Sign making it need constant variety and many irons in the fire. Quick-witted and quick to share a joke, there’s a love of banter and of generally not taking anything too seriously. Mostly though, Geminis love to talk. Put simply- which is how this President seems to like to view almost everything – Gemini is all about communication. And this is certainly true of the Donald. But his ego reaches into every aspect of his personality so for him it’s more about the need to be heard than about the need to truly communicate. The man is a transmitter, constantly airing his opinions and beliefs. And the stop button is rarely off! No wonder he’s so glued to his Twitter account! He’d be wise to heed these words written by a very perceptive soul – ‘The biggest communication problem is we do not listen to understand. We listen to reply.’

Detail is the Devil

Added to his Astrological mix is a Moon in big-thinking, adventure-loving and detail – hating Sagittarius. The Moon equates to feelings, habits and instinctive emotional reactions. It’s our line of least resistance. The Sign it’s in at birth reveals the type of instant reactions we have and hints at the emotional ambience into which we were born. Sagittarius, like Leo, is another Fire sign so it’s positive and cheerful. But it’s more easy-going, more flexible and more restless than Leo. It’s just as extravagant, though.  Maybe even more so. Big is very beautiful to Moon in Sagittarius people and they are certainly not averse to risk. There’s an undoubted intelligence, it’s true and a love of giving advice, but the dislike of detail and a blindness to practicalities means cavalier behaviour is never far away. With this Moon Sign, Trump will always respond to the Big Picture, never to the boring minutiae that make up the picture. Detail is definitely the devil in this man’s mind!

There’s no denying his outstanding success as a businessman but the autocratic traits that took him to the top of the corporate ladder may be the very ones to topple him from the political one . . . . .

Peacefulness and Composure

. . . . .   Meanwhile, Melania seems on the surface at least to be quite opposite in temperament to her husband. Poised, dignified . . . and quiet. There’s a peacefulness and composure about her. A stillness that suggests she’s a self-contained character. We don’t know her Rising Sign because her time of birth isn’t available but we know her Sun is in sensible and steady Taurus. In fact, she has several Planets in this straightforward, uncomplicated Earth Sign so stability and substance colour much of her nature. Practicality does too.  Having permanence and predictability in her life will be valued big-time as will the maxim that it’s not what you start that counts, it’s what you finish. Flighty and frivolous she is not. Nor is she a Drama Queen. A cool, calm and collected head sits on this First Lady’s shoulders. Yes, it may often fill with thoughts of her next purchase but this is not to imply that Melania is shallow or self- indulgent.  It’s just that Taureans are usually very attached to the things they own.  In fact they tend to be enthusiastic accumulators and hoarders of ‘stuff’.  Usually rather beautiful, quality stuff. It’s a security thing. Building security of the material kind is a big Taurean motivation and ownership defines them. Doubtless Melania will greatly appreciate the opportunities her life with Donald will offer on that level at least!  But she probably sees her husband’s excesses in this department a trifle vulgar.

Taureans also enjoy a little pampering of the senses. Whether it’s savouring gourmet food, soaking in scented bathwater, slipping on silk or being stirred by song, she’s in her element when her sensuality is satisfied.

Ok, so she may be a tad self-indulgent . . . .

Emotionally Self-Reliant

But the main reason Melania is neither shallow nor frivolous is this. Her Moon is in the disciplined, conscientious and cautious Sign of Capricorn. Capricorn is another Earth Sign. And it’s very much a no-nonsense, no-frills Earth Sign. No pretence, either. With this Moon Sign, what you see is most definitely what you get. Rooted in reality, her instinctive reactions to life will be careful, well-considered and very probably a little negative. Why negative? Well Moon in Capricorn people are nothing if not pragmatic, hard – headed realists who know all too well what might go wrong rather than right with any given plan or situation. They’re comfortable with playing it by the rules too and responsibility fits them like a glove.  Emotionally self-sufficient, resilient and stoical, trials and tribulations will not weaken Melania.  When the going gets tough, there will be nobody tougher. This woman is a survivor.

Work Before Play

Moon in Capricorn suggests a childhood where obligation, adherence to duty or to an expected way of behaving probably stifled or inhibited her in some way.  She probably learned at an early age to internalise her feelings and that love, rather than being given unconditionally, was something that had to be earned. Usually by being diligent, dutiful and putting work before play. Deep down she’ll have been made to feel that life was in one way or another a series of examinations. Tests that must be passed. And failure would be a frightening option.

Building Self-Worth

As with all Moon in Capricorn people, she’s probably never quite shaken off that fear of failure.  And because of it, the need to accomplish and to achieve inhabits her every pore.  But this drive to succeed is propelled not by any need to win the pat on the back. Nor is it for any financial gain. It’s about building self-worth.  And it’s this and only this which fulfils her emotionally. Let’s hope she gets the chance to reach success in her own right and in a very tangible and useful way.

So, there we have it- an imperious,  puffed-up President, born without inhibitions and modesty.  A strident man who acts on impulse and voices every thought. And a reserved, down-to-earth First Lady. A serious woman who acts with caution and keeps her own counsel.

Good luck to them – and even more good luck to America!
